LOCAL HERITAGE COUNCIL – MINUTES – 59th meeting held on September 22, 2025 at 5:31 p.m.

Heritage – Replacement of cedar roof shingles and four windows – 2, rue Wellington – Hull-Wright Electoral District – Steve Moran

Questions, answers, and comments were formulated, concerning among other things:

• A request to verify the location of the downspouts;
• A request to verify on the quote whether the muntin bars of the new windows will be identical to the existing ones. If the quote does not provide for muntin bars identical to the existing ones, a condition is requested to require muntin bars identical to the existing ones, and not just the installation of strips glued onto the windows.

The meeting of the Local Heritage Council is adjourned at 5:40 p.m. and will resume after the meeting of the Urban Planning Advisory Committee. The meeting of the Local Heritage Council is reopened at 8:45 p.m.

CONSIDERING THAT a request to renovate the Théâtre de l’Île has been submitted for the property located at 2, rue Wellington;

CONSIDERING THAT the building, constructed in 1886, appears in the document "Inventaire du patrimoine bâti traditionnel – Ville de Gatineau 2025" and possesses a superior level of heritage interest;

CONSIDERING THAT the proposed work is subject to a council decision under the Règlement relatif au Site du patrimoine Hanson-Taylor-Wright numéro 2194;

CONSIDERING THAT the main objective of the Site du patrimoine Hanson-Taylor-Wright, regarding renovation work, is the preservation and enhancement of buildings of interest;

CONSIDERING THAT the proposed work allows for the preservation and enhancement of the Théâtre de l’Île building;

CONSIDERING THAT the proposed work complies with the provisions of the Règlement de zonage numéro 532-2020, and respects the applicable objectives and evaluation criteria of the Règlement relatif au Site du patrimoine Hanson-Taylor-Wright numéro 2194;

CONSEQUENTLY, this Committee recommends that the council approve, under the Règlement relatif au Site du patrimoine Hanson-Taylor-Wright numéro 2194, for the property located at 2, rue Wellington, the renovation work of the Théâtre de l’Île, as described below:

• Replace the existing cedar shingle roof section of the building with cedar shingles similar to the existing ones (with new fascia and soffit);
• Replace four wooden guillotine windows with four white pre-painted wooden windows, identical to the originals.
