This item authorizes the reimbursement of 2023 expenses incurred by the Canadian Red Cross for providing emergency services to disaster victims in Gatineau. This is a routine financial settlement for services rendered under an existing partnership agreement.

The City of Gatineau will reimburse the Canadian Red Cross $390,362.43 for services provided to residents affected by the 2023 spring floods. This payment covers operational, human, and material resource costs incurred during the disaster response.

The City is ratifying an agreement to support victims of a fire at the Appartements Aylmer Arms (166 Rue Principale) in Aylmer. The fire displaced 25 households and damaged 28 others, requiring extensive repairs. The City will provide $60,000 from its 2024 contingency budget to assist in the rehabilitation of the building and support the elderly, low-income residents who wish to return to their homes.

The city is retroactively authorizing the Director of the Service des loisirs, des sports et du développement des communautés to sign an agreement extending Canadian Red Cross support for victims of the June 29 fire at 166, rue Principale beyond the standard 144-hour limit.
