2026 Work Plan for the Public Safety Commission - Recommendation
The presentation aims to gather comments from members in order to formulate a recommendation to the City Council regarding the Commission's 2026 work plan. The Chair reads the Commission's mandate, and the files and actions proposed for 2026 are presented. Members then ask clarifying questions regarding certain actions planned in the plan. Discussions focus in particular on the importance of strengthening outreach with certain communities as well as the need to identify the most appropriate communication channels to raise awareness among citizens about the issues experienced.
It is also mentioned that, during the presentation of the Police Service's action plan regarding mental health and homelessness, it would be relevant to examine possibilities for collaboration with the Commission Gatineau, Ville en santé (Gatineau, Healthy City Commission), as well as with the Commission du vivre-ensemble (Living Together Commission). Questions are raised regarding the consideration of issues specifically affecting women in the context of interventions with people experiencing homelessness, as well as the importance of integrating gender-based analysis in an intersectional perspective (GBA+). It is answered that these elements will indeed be taken into consideration.
A break is taken at 9:37 a.m. to attempt to resolve technical sound issues for those present in hybrid mode. The meeting resumes at 9:53 a.m.
