Road Network Status - 2023 Assessment

Presentation by Monsieur Alain Renaud.

The objectives of the presentation are to:

  • Present the status and evolution of the road network following the 2023 assessment;
  • Present the different types of pavement interventions;
  • Present an update on the approximate investments required for maintenance and catch-up.

Presentation plan:

  1. Current situation;
  2. Desired situation;
  3. Recommendations.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

CP-SPAI-2024-04 Maintain intervention guidelines across the entire degradation curve, rather than only reconstructing pavements that have reached the end of their useful life.

CP-SPAI-2024-05 Adjust future investments based on annual inflation in the construction sector.

CP-SPAI-2024-06 Increase annual investments to maintain the current condition level of pavements.

A question and comment period took place. Councillors discussed the prioritization of road repairs, the impact of political requests on objective criteria, and the limitations of current budgets which only cover cost indexation rather than significant improvements. The administration clarified that while political input provides valuable local context, the focus must remain on objective investment needs. The recommendations were presented for information purposes.
