Read full translation

This is a project where youth are involved in the creation of video clips and advertising materials aimed at promoting a municipal service offer dedicated to them. The goal is to include youth in every stage of production: ideation, scripting, and filming. The project aims to spark the interest of the 19,000 teenagers who will view these clips. The groups that will be consulted are the members of the Youth Commission and two to three groups of youth from youth centers, neighborhood houses, schools, etc., who are not very familiar with Adogatineau.ca. The consultations will take place in April and May.

Relaunch of the student council network
The city is developing a pilot network to foster collaboration and citizenship training among student councils in various Gatineau schools. The project aims to empower students to act on youth issues collectively.
Read full translation

The student council network aims to develop and implement a pilot networking project for collaboration and citizenship training through student councils. Concretely, it would be possible to have links with other councils from other schools, and to be better equipped and motivated to act together on youth issues. The schools participating in the pilot project are du Versant, Saint-Alexandre, Hormisdas-Gamelin, L’Érablière, Nouvelle-Ère, and de la Cité. The wish is to share the network among all schools afterward.

Considering the particular year regarding the school strike, Hormisdas-Gamelin does not have a council this year and will be integrated during the formation of their next council next year. Two structures are proposed, but an alignment between them will need to be made to arrive at a third proposal following consultations in schools last year. In order to keep youth mobilized during this particular year, it was not possible to organize large activities, but we wish to maintain enthusiasm for the project. This presentation will be made in the targeted schools, and slides will be added to talk about the Youth Commission and the links that can be made.

Progress of the 'Ma place' project
The 'Ma place' project will provide youth activities in four designated parks this summer. The city is hiring 10 animators and exploring a partnership with the STO for transportation.

This summer, in addition to the Cube culturel which will travel to different parks in the city and offer a teen evening on Thursday nights, 4 parks have been designated to host the Ma place project: parc Central, parc Édouard-Mercier, parc St-René, and parc Dupuis. Animators will be present on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM for the Gatineau sector, and on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at parc Central. The locations are determined, but ideas for programming are welcome. Information will be available in the Profite de l’été (Enjoy the Summer) brochure, on Adogatineau, and on the City's website. Cédric will handle this aspect on social media. There will be a hiring process to have 10 animators for the 4 sites. Roxanne will see if it is possible to have a partnership with the STO (Société de transport de l'Outaouais) to have a 'youth station' that would bring them directly to the Ma place sites. We also propose a shortcut on Adogatineau.ca that would provide information on the 4 sites.

Some members share events that took place in their school. It is mentioned that at Nicolas-Gatineau, a proposal was made so that 'Code blanc' (lockdown) practices be done during non-class periods, therefore during breaks and lunch hours, so that everyone can know how to react with crowds. Members are invited to talk about it in their respective schools. Thomas Vanhooren leaves the meeting at 3:05 PM. The quorum is maintained.

The Youth Commission is launching a recruitment campaign from April 2 to 22, 2024, to fill 15 positions across 9 Gatineau schools. Members are encouraged to act as ambassadors to promote the commission.
Read full translation

It is desired to reach as many youth as possible to fill the 15 positions available in 9 Gatineau schools. The recruitment campaign will therefore take place from April 2 to 22, 2024. In addition to being on social media, members are invited to play their role as ambassadors to promote the Cj (Youth Commission). The promotional video is presented. There will be a few modifications, and it will be subtitled in English to reach English-speaking schools. A Jotform link will be included in the video to allow for registrations. Educational institutions, SMAJ accomplices, and partners will receive the video to circulate it. The link will also be shared with the Jeunes conférenciers (Young Speakers).

The event will be held at St-Alexandre, on May 17 and 18, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on May 17, and from 8:00 AM until late on May 18. Members are invited to be present with a promotional table for the Cj. The Commission has carte blanche for the event. Members propose the following ideas: have a kiosk with promotional material from Adogatineau.ca and have a screen behind the kiosk that would present the recruitment video. Members emphasize the importance of installing the kiosk in a strategic location and choosing the right time to be present to have good visibility, during lunch hour, for example. A subcommittee is set up: Vincent Crête-Desrochers, Camille Dangoisse, Constance Nolet, Maïka Gangur, Rosalie Bureau, Éli Hurtubise, Adélia Demers, Arnaud Forget, and Maève Dault.
