CONSIDERING THAT the Government of Canada sent a letter of approval in principle for financial assistance to the City of Gatineau under the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund (DMAF) on June 25, 2019, for the financing of 40% of eligible expenses for the Wabassee Creek watershed project, up to a maximum contribution of $22,510,000;
CONSIDERING THAT, by Decree number 1359-2025 of November 12, 2025, the Government of Quebec approved the Canada-Quebec Agreement for the Wabassee Creek watershed project under the DMAF, which provides for federal funding of $22,510,000;
CONSIDERING THAT, by Decree number 1360-2025 of November 12, 2025, the Government of Quebec authorized the Minister of Municipal Affairs to grant a subsidy of a maximum amount of $45,020,000 to the City, of which $22,510,000 comes from the Government of Quebec and $22,510,000 comes from the federal government;
CONSIDERING THAT the City received, on February 18, 2026, the grant agreement regarding the granting by the Minister of Municipal Affairs of a subsidy of a maximum amount of $45,020,000 for the Wabassee Creek watershed project;
CONSIDERING THAT a copy of this agreement must be duly signed and returned to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs so that the City of Gatineau can benefit from the financial assistance:
PROPOSED AND UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED THAT this committee authorizes:
• The Mayor, or in her absence the Acting Mayor, and the Clerk, or in her absence the Deputy Clerk or Assistant Clerk, to sign the grant agreement between the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the City of Gatineau regarding the subsidy granted under Decree number 1360-2025 of November 12, 2025, for the Wabassee Creek watershed project;
