CONSIDERING THAT the Canadian government created the Building Safer Communities Fund and allowed the ministère de la Sécurité publique to grant subsidies to the 10 largest cities in Quebec to fight against gun and gang-related violence (2023-2026); CONSIDERING THAT the municipal council, by its resolution number CM-2023-37, accepted the subsidy of $2,579,550.40 from the ministère de la Sécurité publique of the Government of Quebec, and mandated the Recreation, Sports and Community Development Service as well as the Police Service to coordinate the projects of the agreement resulting from the Building Safer Communities Fund; CONSIDERING THAT the Recreation, Sports and Community Development Service as well as the Police Service have set themselves the objective of fighting against gun and gang-related violence by preventing violence among youth aged 7 to 35 by means of two types of action plans, namely:

  • Custom action plan which requires mobilized interventions of longer duration, to resolve or prevent violence issues more deeply rooted in a specific environment;
